Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of the Citewise platform. We've tried to keep them clear and fair โ please read them before you start.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Citewise ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Citewise Technologies ("we", "us", or "our"), governed by applicable Indian law including the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Description of Service
Citewise is an AI-powered legal research platform designed to assist legal professionals in India in searching, analysing, and retrieving Indian case law, statutes, and precedents. The Platform is a research aid only. Nothing on Citewise constitutes legal advice and it is not a substitute for qualified legal counsel. Users are responsible for verifying the accuracy and applicability of any information retrieved before relying on it.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use Citewise. By using the Platform, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract under the laws of India. If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you are authorised to bind that organisation to these Terms.
User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abusive usage, or have been inactive for more than 12 consecutive months.
Subscriptions & Payments
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance in Indian Rupees (INR), inclusive of applicable GST, and processed securely through Cashfree Payments. All fees are non-refundable except as described in our Refund Policy. Failure to pay may result in immediate suspension of access to paid features.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Citewise to: (a) generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, or harassing; (b) reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract content from the Platform; (c) share your credentials or permit others to use your account; (d) submit queries designed to circumvent usage limits; or (e) use the Platform in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair our infrastructure. Violation may result in immediate termination without refund.
Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform โ including our AI models, UI, branding, and proprietary search algorithms โ is the exclusive intellectual property of Citewise Technologies, protected under the Copyright Act, 1957, and applicable international treaties. Case law and statutory text retrieved by the Platform are in the public domain; however, our curation, formatting, and AI-generated summaries are proprietary and may not be reproduced without permission.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that search results are complete, current, or free from error. AI responses are probabilistic in nature and must be independently verified before reliance. We make no representation that the Platform is suitable for any particular legal matter.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Citewise shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform, including loss of business, loss of data, or reliance on AI-generated responses. Our total liability in any calendar month shall not exceed the amount you paid us in that month.
Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, at Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Modifications
We may revise these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 7 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Platform.
